About BACK TO PLAY

Back to Play’s primary program is our indoor playroom which is open to the public. Since opening in April 2023, our indoor playroom has welcomed over 5,312 children from over 2,500 families, providing inclusive, low-cost, and developmentally rich play opportunities. Our playroom emphasizes open-ended exploration, loose parts play, and sensory-based environments that support early development and mental well-being. We currently have 20 active family memberships who visit on average twice per week. In 2024, we expanded our facilities to include a calming room for sensory-sensitive children, nursing mothers, and older youth, and we created a private office space to sublease to youth-serving professionals, enhancing service access in southern Jefferson County. With support from your foundation, we incorporated equipment for neurodivergent children and those with challenging behaviors such as activity wall panels and more secure children’s gates for our dedicated areas. Our community outreach includes hosting affordable birthday parties, facilitating parent/guardian support groups, and partnering with Salvation Army and Toys for Tots to provide holiday gifts for over 120 children in 2024 families including 38 teens in our "Claus for a Cause" program. As we grow, Back to Play continues to center inclusion, community support, and family resilience in every offering.
