Looking for a fun, hands-on way to give back? Join us at Blessings in a Backpack to help power our Online Shop and make sure our volunteers have the tools and merchandise they need to rally their communities around ending childhood hunger.We’re seeking friendly and reliable volunteers to:·Pack shop merchandise and items ordered by our amazing volunteer program coordinators, helping them support their programs and local volunteer teams.·Delivered prepared orders to the UPS Store (conveniently located just across the street from our office).·Take inventory of merchandise to keep our shop organized and running smoothly.When: The 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each monthTime Commitment: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PMWhere: Blessings in a Backpack Office 6100 Dutchman’s Lane, Suite 603 Louisville, KY 40205This opportunity is perfect for volunteers who love to stay active, be organized, and work behind the scenes to make a big difference. As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to take action.Why Do We Do ItMore than 13.8 million children in this country are at risk of hunger. The consequences of hunger are much more than a growling stomach. Poor nutrition can result in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. Federal government programs feed children during the school week, but we also want to ensure they have access to weekend nutrition.How Much Does it Cost?$175 will feed one child on the weekends for one 36-week school year through the Blessings in a Backpack program.
