A caregiver near you could use some free time - a couple of hours off from caring for a loved one to shop, nap, take a walk, visit a friend.Help a local caregiver by providing friendly visits and caring companionship to someone with early stage memory loss or dementia. Visit for a few hours each week on your own schedule. We will provide training, ongoing support and work with you to find the right match.Activities may include going to a ball game or for walks together, looking at photo albums, engaging in conversation, painting, arts and crafts, gardening, shopping, sharing a meal or signing together, among other activities. Utilize reminiscence strategies to engage the person you visit- use memories as a point of connection and help them find meaning in their life story. About Lifespan of Greater Rochester
Lifespan, founded in 1971, has provided service to Rochester area older adults and caregivers for 48 years. The organization has a $10.4 million annual budget and receives support from the government, The United Way of Greater Rochester, numerous foundations, private contributors, and through service fees. Lifespan employs approximately 160 full and part-time, and we assist approximately 39,000 older adults and caregivers a year.
