Seeking Community Educator Volunteers for the Alzheimer's Association- Dutchess County, NY

We need you! Do you want to make a difference in the community? Do you enjoy speaking to groups and increasing awareness for a great cause? Alzheimer’s disease is a growing public health epidemic as the population ages, with more than 40,000 people in the Hudson Valley alone. Age is the number one risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. The disease is still shrouded in stigma and fear, and people do not seek information, talk to their doctors or get help when they first notice cognitive changes. However, together we can change that!By becoming a community educator, you can raise awareness for the Association, educate the community about the disease, and help break the stigma. We need people to help us educate the public about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia and connect them to us for care and support. We want to reach every community across Dutchess County, NY.About you:Live, Work, Play or Pray in Dutchess County, NY and/or are willing to travel there for programsWilling to learn our education programs and deliver them in the communityComfortable with public speaking and networkingComfortable working with staff, community partners and other volunteersInterest in serving your community, raising awareness, and educating othersSelf-motivated and reliableConnected to communityReliable transportationAge 21+About the opportunity:Set your own schedule- we work with your availability and encourage you to set up your own programsComprehensive onboarding and training providedAssigned Staff Partner to help you onboard and to support you throughout your volunteer journey.Reach new people to increase awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association and the diseaseBackground Check and Conflict of Interest/Confidentiality Agreement are requiredMinimum one year commitmentDelivers 10-12 edu
