Purpose: to encourge visitation to the formal gardens through the provision of self-guided tour brochures and explanation of the gardens, emphasizing the volunteerism involved in the gaden maintenance and the need for community support through modest donations.
About FREDERICK W VANDERBILT GARDEN ASSOCIATION
We are a volunteer organization of approximately 125 volunteers who rehabilitate and maintain the gardens of the Vanderbilt Mansion completely by fundraising to pay for equipment, supplies, and materials. We have been in existence since 1984 and work closely with the National Park Service and the Olmstead Center for Landscape Preservation to identify the historic features of the gardens and to develop plans to preserve them or re-establish them. We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit porganization.
