DIY Make Laundry Soap

Brief Organizational Description: To serve the hungry, the homeless, and the hurting by filling practical needs, providing resources, and building relationships. We are a ministry that distributes practical items (clothing, household, baby gear, toiletries, and cleaning supplies) to those overcoming the obstacles to home and life stability.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose: Volunteers can get together and make laundry soap that will be given to those in need in our community.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities: Volunteers will be making laundry soap by following detailed instructions. This will include things like grating soap using a cheese grater, mixing all ingredients together then seperating the detergent into bags that will be given to families.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements: Once the bags/jars of laundry detergent are made, they must be delivered to Mercy Mall. Please place one cup of pre-made laundry detergent into each bag/jar and place printed lables on the front and back of each bag/jar. All of the directions and supplies needed are found in Other Information below.
Time Commitment: If you are able to get a group of 6-8 people, it will take 2-3 hours to make and seperate the detergent into bags.

Volunteers will be able to track their hours on the CFengage website or if needed may bring a log in for me to sign upon their drop off date at Mercy Mall.
Ingredients & supplies needed to make 40 one-cup bags of laundry detergent:
14 bars Fels-Naptha soap
14 cups Washing Soda
14 cups Borax
40 quart-size zip bags or small jars
Measuring cups (1 cup + tablespoon)
Large mixing bowl or container
Cheese graters or food processors

Printed labels or stickers
