Location: Milford, DelawareEmployment Type: Volunteer (December 1 - April 15) Position Summary:Milford Advocacy for the Homeless is seeking compassionate and reliable Volunteer Mini-Bus Drivers to provide transportation for individuals experiencing homelessness to and from Code Purple shelters during the cold season. From December 1 through April 15, drivers will operate a mini-bus (no CDL required) to transport people seeking shelter from harsh Winter conditions. This critical service ensures that individuals have access to safe, warm shelter every night. Shifts are available daily from 6:45-7:45 am and/or 7:45-8:45 pm. Key Responsibilities: Transportation of Shelter Guests:Safely operate a mini-bus to transport individuals to Code Purple shelters in the evening and return them in the morning, ensuring a warm and secure environment during transportation.Follow designated routes and adhere to scheduled times: morning shift (6:45-7:45 am) and/or evening shift (7:45-8:45 pm).Assist passengers as needed with boarding and exiting the vehicle, particularly those with mobility challenges. Passenger Safety and Comfort:Ensure that all passengers are transported safely, adhering to road safety guidelines and the organization’s transportation policies.Provide a welcoming and compassionate environment during transport, understanding the vulnerabilities of passengers facing homelessness.Monitor and report any incidents or safety concerns to program coordinators. Vehicle Maintenance and Reporting:Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the mini-bus is in good working condition.Maintain cleanliness and organization within the vehicle before and after each shift.Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the program coordinator promptly. MAH is a grassroots, 501c3 non-profit public organization. We were founded out of community desire to provide and advocacy group that would gather community resources into one place ,so that it would be easy for anyone who is displaced or simply has housing or food insecurity. We were incorporated in January 2021 through the request of the community. We continue to bring together resources to help those in need and walk beside them as support and shepherd as they move from insecurity to security.
