About this opportunity

Are you passionate about helping parents and caregivers build strong, healthy families? We're looking for enthusiastic individuals or groups to volunteer as facilitators for our upcoming parenting skills workshops and classes.Our goal is to provide a supportive and educational environment where parents can learn new skills, share experiences, and gain confidence in their parenting journey. As a volunteer facilitator, you will be responsible for leading engaging workshops on various parenting topics, such as:Positive discipline techniquesEffective communication with childrenManaging stress and parental burnoutNavigating different developmental stagesBuilding strong family bondsThis is a flexible opportunity, perfect for individuals or groups with experience in education, social work, child development, or a related field. We can accommodate various schedules, from a single workshop to a multi-week course. You'll have the creative freedom to design your own curriculum or use existing resources.What We're Looking ForExperience: Previous experience in teaching, public speaking, or leading group discussions is a plus.Knowledge: A solid understanding of child development and effective parenting strategies.Enthusiasm: A positive, encouraging attitude and a genuine desire to help others.Reliability: The ability to commit to a pre-determined schedule and be a dependable point of contact for participants.

About THURMAN BRISBEN HOMELESS SHELTER INC (Brisben Center)

The Brisben Center has 37 years of experience with serving the homeless adults and children of the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline and the City of Fredericksburg.We do so in a 16,000 sf clean, modern. safe, congregate facility in which families with children and single adults may find a place to transform surviving to thriving.We have separate dormitories for single males and for single females. Families with children reside in single occupancy family rooms with full bathrooms.Our theory of change, based on decades of experience and extensive research, is simple. If a person is capable, motivated, and accountable to their results-based plan, and if they engage with effective, targeted resources, they will advance their health & sobriety, social relationships, livable wageemployment, financial literacy, community engagement, and good parenting skills.
