ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
GoochlandCares has been a safety net for our community since 1952. Our mission is to provide basic human services and health care to our Goochland neighbors in need. GoochlandCares envisions an equitable community in which all persons have their basic needs met, empowering them to lead lives of self-dignity and well-being.
OPPORUTUNITY DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers are needed in our Clothes Closet to help with the following tasks:
Process donations of housewares and clothing by sorting, pricing, tagging, and discarding as appropriate.
Ensure the appropriate items are placed in the correct place on the floor.
Walk the retail floor, straighten racks, ensure items are securely hung/displayed, ennsure hangers are replaced, and make sure items are returned to their proper place.
Ensure merchandise is displayed appropriately and attractively on shelves, visible to customers, and appropriately paired as needed.
Ensure clothes hangers are properly maintained, sorted, and stored.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to remain professional in all interactions with clients, staff, and volunteers.
Ability to always maintain confidentiality and manage appropriate boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers.
Ability to stand and move for duration of shifts with frequent bending, lifting, hanging, and sorting of donations.
Ability to communicate effectively and positively with fellow volunteers, clients, donors, and staff.
Student volunteers aged 12 to 15 may volunteer with a parent/guardian; both student and parent should complete an application.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Shifts are 2-3 hours each and are currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
