High School Equivalency Tutor (Woodbine)
♡ SaveAbout this opportunity
Are you looking for a place to share your knowledge and help others advance their education? Then this is for you!
Begin Anew is a faith-based nonprofit, offering educational programming for the purpose of empowering individuals to overcome obstacles created by poverty. We provide High School Equivalency test prep, English Language Learning classes at three different levels, and Computer and Job skills classes for adults, as well as mentoring and access to resources. All programming and testing are free for the students. We also offer free childcare.
High School Equivalency Tutors will:
Assist adult students one-on-one or in small groups with preparation for the High School Equivalency (HiSET) tests by studying Math, Reading, Language, Social Studies, and Science. Tutors often “specialize” in a couple of those subjects. We also assist with test taking skills for our provided curriculum.
Develop relationships with students

Previous tutoring experience is helpful but not required. We are just looking for a willingness to serve and a desire to help others achieve their goals.
Our Woodbine location offers classes on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6-8pm, and we ask that our volunteers commit to one class per week for the duration of a semester.
This position requires volunteers to complete an application and pass a background check. Training and resources will be provided by the site Program Manager.
Minimum age: 18.
