Companionship Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to our patient and family care. Hospice companionship volunteers visit patients in their homes or in facilities anywhere from once a month to once a week, depending on your schedule. Volunteers provide companionship to patients and caregivers. They listen to patients' stories and provide a listening ear. Our volunteers read books, look at pictures, play cards and laugh with our patients. When a family member needs a break or needs to run an errand, our volunteers step in to help out. Our volunteers are here to meet non-medical is needed for our patients, their families and our Gentiva staff. No medical experience needed as volunteers DO NOT perform nursing duties or dispense medications.Our patients love our volunteers and the time you give is invaluable to a patient and their family during a very difficult season in their lives. No matter your skills, talents and motivation, we have the opportunity for you to be the light in the darkness.
