Volunteers for Youth (VFY) empowers young people in Orange County through mentoring, restorative programs, and skill-building workshops called Life Labs. Our mission is to provide meaningful experiences that foster confidence, community, and lifelong growth. So, we created Life Labs! A fun practical way of introducing life skills to youth and preparing them a little more for life!Life Labs are short, engaging workshops designed to teach essential life skills to youth ages 15+. Topics range from money management and job readiness to automotive basics and environmental stewardship. Each lab provides hands-on learning opportunities with guidance from professionals in their field.We are seeking reliable instructors to support our 3-tier Financial Literacy labs as well as our Resume Building and Street Smarts Labs. These roles are perfect for someone passionate about youth development, financial education, and workforce readiness. The instructor will curate their own curriculum to deliver and instruct sessions with up to 20 youth ages 15-18. You can either create and execute your very own curriculum or have support through VFY to help you with materials and whatever you need to be successful!ResponsibilitiesLead or co-facilitate interactive workshops on financial literacy and resume building for students 15 and up.Deliver prepared curriculum and maintain an engaging learning environment.Collaborate with VFY staff to ensure smooth setup, attendance tracking, and wrap-up.Serve as a positive role model and encourage youth participation.Managing class sizes up to 20 participants.QualificationsExperience in education, youth programming, finance, workforce development, or a related field.Strong communication and facilitation skills.Ability to connect with diverse youth populations
About Volunteers for Youth
Volunteers for Youth works with high risk youth through three primary programs. The Mentoring Program provides positive adult role models to young people between the ages of nine and fourteen through one-on-one and group mentoring. One-on-one mentors agree to spend at least two hours a week together for one year. The Juvenile Community Service Program works with young people who have been court-ordered to complete an assigned number of community service hours. Youth are placed in nonprofit settings throughout Orange County and supervised by volunteer worksite supervisors. Teen Court is an alternative court program for middle and high school students. First time offenders are tried and sentenced by a jury of their peers. Teen volunteers take the roles of prosecutor, defense attorney, clerk, baliff, and juror to conduct these proceedings.
