The Historic Cabarrus Association (HCA) invites you to become part of a dedicated team preserving the stories, places, and heritage that make Cabarrus County unique. As Cabarrus County's countywide preservation organization and Chair of the county's America 250 initiative, HCA is committed to making local history engaging and accessible for all.
Volunteers will serve in our newly reimagined History Room inside the Historic 1876 Cabarrus County Courthouse, welcoming visitors, sharing information about our exhibits, and helping create an enjoyable experience for guests from across the community and beyond.
No museum or history experience is required. We provide all training and welcome anyone with a positive attitude and a passion for serving others.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Welcome visitors to the History Room.
Share information about HCA and current exhibits.
Answer basic visitor questions (training provided).
Assist with educational materials and visitor resources.
Help maintain a welcoming and organized space.
Schedule
August 1–31, 2026
Tuesday through Saturday
10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Flexible half-day and full-day shifts are available.
Time Commitment:
We value volunteers who can serve on a consistent weekly basis, but we understand every schedule is different. Whether you can volunteer weekly or just a few times each month, we'd be grateful for your time and support.
Qualifications:
Friendly, dependable, and professional.
Comfortable interacting with visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Able to stand for portions of a volunteer shift.
Able to lift up to 15 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Training provided; no previous museum experience is required.
