About this opportunity

Change a child's story! Your voice can make a powerful difference in a child's future. Becoming a GAL volunteer means ensuring that children involved in Family Court legal proceedings through the Department of Social Services have someone to speak up for them. Volunteers stand beside children during some of the stormiest seasons of their lives, helping them find stability, safety, and hope. This training will equip participants with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to advocate for children’s best interests in the courtroom and throughout their journey in the Family Court system. Just as fall reminds us of harvest and preparation, this is the perfect season to step forward and help children grow in safe and nurturing environments. Sign up today for our free online training classes. Email Sarah.Schultz@childadvocate.sc.gov or visit gal.sc.gov to learn more.YouTube video link: https://youtu.be/muP9hfrJYFs

About Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem Program

Our volunteers advocate for children who have been abused or neglected. We work one-on-one with children, and help them find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. We learn as much as possible about the child, so that we can advocate effectively for them, both in and out of the courtroom. We pride ourselves on remaining with a child throughout their entire case, and are often the only adults who are stable in their lives during this turbulent time. Our volunteers make a positive impact on children's lives.
