Volunteer must be:18 years of agePromote UH’s mission for pet services and share its purposeMeet onboarding requirements and orientationAssist pet handler during visits such as pet bathroom accidents and/or emergencies and notifying Volunteer Services and EVS immediatelyKnowledge of caring for animals to promote positive environment and in case pet handler needs assistanceCarry Care Bag on visits at all timesAllow Pet Handler and pet to conduct purpose of visit with patientsPrecede pet handler and ask patients if they would like a visit from petBe flexible with pet handler and pet schedule if needs are requested unscheduledWill have same schedule as pet handler/petBe friendly, confident and interact with pet handler and pet positivelyMust be relaxed, friendly, and confident around petsWork with variety of animals
