About this opportunity

As a Beacon Of Hope Hospice Volunteer, you will provide non-medical support services according to agency policy and procedures including:Emotional support to patients and familiesCompanionshipRelief to family caregiversAssisting with household choresReport response of patient/family to hospice staffAfter a light screening process and training, you will be assigned to a patient in the KC metropolitan area as appropriate. The requirements to be a volunteer are:Must be at least 18 years of ageAble to dedicate1-3 hours per monthHold a current driver’s licenseHave current automobile insuranceNo felonies or abuse convictionsHave a giving, compassionate heartThe onboarding process generally takes no more than 2 weeks. After that time, I, the Volunteer Coordinator with go with you to your first meeting with your person needing service. From there, you’ll be on your own, visiting with them as required and providing documentation of your visit back to me.

About Beacon of Hope Hospice of Missouri, Inc

Hospice volunteers play a crucial role by providing a wide variety of practical and emotional assistance. Their tasks include reading/playing games with a patient, running errands for patient, preparing light meals, visiting with the patient to give the family members a break, being a friend. Hospice Volunteers may also assist the hospice staff with making flower arrangements in vases for patients, make patient packets, assist with clerical office support. Hours can range from once a week to several times a week or month, we can work with your schedule. Great opportunity for Nursing and Social Work students! Volunteers 18+
