Organization: Heavenly Paws of MIReports To: Director of Feline Fosters/AdoptionsLocation: Home-based (with occasional transport or vet visits)Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)Position Summary:Feline Foster Home Volunteers provide temporary homes for cats and kittens rescued from shelters, streets, unsafe situations. This role offers a calm, caring environment to help cats recover, socialize, and prepare for permanent adoption.Key Responsibilities:Provide daily care including feeding, grooming, playtime and litter box maintenanceSocialize cats to build trust and reduce fear or anxiety (where applicable)Monitor health and behavior; report any concerns promptlyAdminister medications or special diets as needed (with training and support)Transport cats to veterinary appointments or adoption events, as neededTake photos periodically and write bios to help promote the cat(s) for adoptionCommunicate regularly with the Director of Foster/Adoptions for updates or supportQualifications:MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ROCHESTER OR SURROUNDING AREA*Experience with or willingness to learn about feline care and behaviorAbility to provide safe, indoor space to house foster cats separate from other animals if neededAbility to handle shy, scared catsPatience, compassion, and commitment to animal welfareReliable transportation and basic communication skillsTime Commitment:Varies depending on the cat-can range from 2 weeks to several months. About Heavenly Paws of Michigan
Heavenly Paws of Michigan is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 with a mission to save animals in overcrowded high-kill shelters, animals being surrendered due to poor economic conditions and animals who are surrendered due to their owner going into hospice care. Every year since 2009, we've rescued hundreds of dogs and cats from shelters or owners who surrendered their pets to our organization. We are a foster-based rescue organization so we don't have a shelter location. We rely on foster parents to take animals into their homes until we find permanent homes for them.
