Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of low to-moderate income families who live in the inner-city neighborhoods of Detroit, Michigan.In an effort to improve the quality of life for residents on one particular block on the N.E. side of Detroit, UDC we are calling upon the Corporate Employee Volunteer Teams throughout the Metropolitan area.We are in need of help with landscape tasks: debris "blight" removal, cutting down overgrown vegetation, trimming of brushes and weedwacking and cutting of grass. Additionally, are at the initial phase of rehabbing a few houses for which we could utilize an additional helping hand.This represents an opportunity for Employee Volunteer Teams to come out for 3 to 4 hours to help a community very much in need and have fun while doing so, engage with co-workers outside of work and contribute byway of philanthropic giving. Our efforts are currently concentrated in the following areas:Beautification and clean-up of inner city neighborhoods.Substance abuse awareness and prevention.Broadening the horizon of inner city youth through exposure to future career opportunities, the fine arts, and recreational activities.Acquisition and renovation of deteriorating properties.Unemployment and underemployment.Addressing environmental pollution concerns and issues.Serving as a liaison between residents, businesses; local police and municipalities to alleviate illegal activity.Rehab of our donated building which will be utilized as a community/employment center.
