Pantry Assistant

Responsibilities: •Participate in an orientation and training •Greet all customers and ensure they have a positive shopping experience •Effectively address customer questions, requests, and problem solve as needed. •Keep all shelves organized, clean and well-stocked. •Assist food pantry staff by bagging bread, fresh produce and other food items delivered •Accept and unload food truck deliveries from our food distribution center in Brooklyn •Ensure that your assigned work station in the market is clean and debris free at the end of the shift •Foster a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect and effective communication. Qualifications/Requirements: •Age 15 and older. •Ability to commit to at least one shift per week for three months. •Excellent verbal communication skills •Strong organizational skills •Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus •Positive attitude and a team player •Ability to life 25 pounds is preferred, but not required. Time Commitment: 4 hours per week. We ask volunteers to serve for at least one 3.5 hour shift per month for at least 3 months.
Requested length of service: We look for a three-month minimum commitment.
