Befriend someone in the Coatesville area as part of the Compeer program. All it takes is about 4 hours per month. You can make a difference in the life of an adult who's dealing with mental health challenges such as depression or social anxiety.Compeer Chester County matches each volunteer with someone who is referred by a professional. These friendships boost self-esteem, reduce loneliness, and increase well-being. And they can be fun! Matched pairs spend time doing whatever safe activities they would both enjoy, such as meeting for coffee or a meal, shopping, bowling, or attending a community event. Keeping in touch by phone or text also can be part of it.Volunteers receive training and can choose their friend. Pairs are matched up based on shared interests, location, and other factors. After you meet your friend, staff provide ongoing support.
