Help older adults receive tax refunds

Help seniors receive needed tax refunds.Volunteer to be a tax preparer during the ESOP VITA Tax Season: Typically running from February- Mid April.* 9am-2pm Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays as arranged with program staff and volunteeravailabilityTax Preparer Duties: Work with ESOP and Benjamin Rose staff to schedule days to be responsible to help preparetaxes at the tax site; Review Taxpayer Intake Sheet to ensure all income, deductions and allowable credits areclaimed; Enter tax information into electronic filing software; Prepare only returns that are within their certification level(s) and within the scope of theprogram; Provide high-quality tax return preparation for taxpayers who qualify for VITA program; Answer questions and/or use available resources to assist taxpayers;Ideal volunteer will have:* Strong interpersonal skills;* Able to maintain personal boundaries with clients;* Able to relate to older adults of different ethnic and income groups, and varying capabilities;* Complete and successfully certified in tax law training Advanced Certification;* Intermediate computer skills;* Able to maintain confidentiality of Benjamin Rose participants and volunteers;* Full Covid-19 vaccination required or exemption approved prior to start.Volunteers complete basic and advanced training through the Cuyahoga EITC Coalition and signup online to complete. Once certified, volunteers are provided orientation to tax software,organization, and provided with supervision. Volunteers do not need experience with taxes tovolunteer. One quick training will get you certified and our site has experienced professionals to helpreview the returns.Help seniors receive much needed funds by volunteering monthly or more often!
