About this opportunity

Certified Weed Warriors work at a specific SVT property to manually remove invasive plants and then log their hours and their progress in an online system. Volunteers can work independently or with other Weed Warriors at their site.Responsibilities include:Be able to accurately identify target species on the propertyProperly remove and dispose of or pile target species.Keep accurate records of your time and the work you do and then enter the information in the online SVT Volunteer Log. The log should be filled out monthly, at a minimum.Communicate any questions, issues, or concerns to SVT staff.Participate in periodic reviews with SVT staff to assess progress on assigned property.While in the field, conduct yourself in a manner that reflects SVT’s values and mission.Training on invasive plant identification and removal techniques will be provided.

Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is a regional land trust, founded in 1953. SVT is dedicated to conserving land and protecting wildlife habitat in the Concord, Assabet and Sudbury river basin. This is one of the most scenic, culturally rich, and historically significant regions in the United States. Today, approximately 3,100 members support SVT’s work in 36 different towns in the watershed.SVT is responsible for the protection and care of diverse conservation lands that include wetlands, sensitive habitats, trails and other open spaces including major sanctuaries. SVT reservations are open to the public free of charge, and include trails for walking, bird watching, cross-country skiing and horseback riding.
