Help out at Roslindale Food Pantry!

The Roslindale Food Pantry strives to address food insecurity in our community by providing nutritious food options and support to individuals and families. They raise awareness and promote community engagement to create a more equitable society. Their mission is driven by compassion, inclusivity, and the belief that together, we can make a lasting impact on hunger.
Every Tuesday, a dedicated volunteer team provides pantry staples, ready-made meals, produce, meat, and other essential goods to 50 to 85 senior clients living in residential housing. Every Tuesday, we need help packing these boxes and carrying them down the stairs where they will be picked up. We also always need help picking up donations from our partner organizations. Every Tuesday we pick up about 15 to 35 banana boxes weighing about 20 to 50 lbs from Stop and Shop in Roslindale on Mondays. These volunteers could support us by meeting us at the grocery store, loading their car with 10 or so boxes, and dropping them off at the church. We would meet the volunteers to help load and take the rest of the boxes in our cars.
On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, we open our doors to families and individuals. On these days, we work with the community and our volunteers to provide food to anywhere between 60 to 100 families and individuals, translating to approximately 240 to 400 families each month. On these days, we need help picking up donations (9:00 to 10:30), carrying donations inside during the morning shift (10:30 to 12:00), sorting donations and packing boxes (11:00 to 1:30), carrying boxes outside and to clients' cars (1:30 to 4:00) and pack up and clean up (3:30 to 4:30).
