Monday is our busiest day EVERY WEEK at Central Lutheran Church in Van Nuys! We are currently serving over 600 households with our food distribution program partnership with the LA Regional Food Bank. We welcome all volunteers with help with set up, food distribution and breakdown/clean up. CENTRAL: A small, energetic community working in English + bilingually to empower our neighbors in Van Nuys through love and grace to be who God has made them to be.Our vision: We want to be people who accept and live in God's grace, who follow Jesus Christ, and who serve others.January 1929 Central was a mission outreach & became a vital part of serving a wide range of needs through the depression and post-war Van Nuys. It flourished in the 50's-70's but lost its connection with mission, so dwindled.NOW, for 15 years, hosted homeless services agencies & opened worship to marginalized folk, experiencing loneliness, disconnectedness, & personal trauma.TODAY: Core of folks serve both persons experiencing poverty & hunger among the housed neighbors + persons experiencing homelessness.Programs:* Mobile Food Pantry -* Basic English Classes (w/childcare);* Women's Empowerment (w/childcare);* Kids Community and Support* Summer kids programs (camp onsite July 2020; Camp opportunities @ mountains late-July 2020)* Faith & spiritual development-all ages*WORSHIP for anyone - no limits.
